Your Carbon Footprint

If you’re anything like us, you will be concerned about the environment, but consistent information on carbon emissions is often hard to find. Do you know what your carbon impact looks like?  The chart below demonstrates the variability of an individual’s carbon footprint. The choices we make each hour, every day, and every week can change our footprint.

Carbon Emissions & Sequestration

Carbon emissions are calculated in many ways. Carbon impacts can be seen in industry, infrastructure, and through consumer activity that drive emissions in the developing world. Everyone’s carbon footprint differs, and your own impact will vary from day to day, depending on your activity.  The chart below shows that even when we make a good decision, such as buying an electric vehicle (EV) or choosing renewable energy, we are still creating a negative impact. Yes, it’s less than before, but we are still damaging the planet and we are certainly not repairing the damage

By visiting our website, we are guessing you’re environmentally minded and that you already take this issue seriously. Like you, we do the same, and we are fully focused on closing the emissions gap, which involves offsetting our carbon footprint. A reasonable estimate is 3-4 tons of carbon per person per year in the UK for a ‘green’ individual.  The next chart demonstrates a ‘business as usual’ approach, but if we minimise our footprint we won’t close the gap. Therefore, planting trees is our most effective and readily available solution.

By planting trees and improving our environment, we can create a positive carbon footprint. The table / graph below shows how a person’s emission gap can be reversed by planting trees:

Your pledge to plant trees can help to close your emissions gap. Planting trees and enhancing the environment allows you to create carbon credit.

Through our initiative, you will be able to build up your carbon credit and create a ‘carbon bank’. Currently, the government operates a scheme known as the Woodland Carbon Code. When we have a sufficient volume of planting, we will authenticate the carbon sequestered through your pledge using this scheme. In the meantime, we will record your carbon bank and monitor your account, and each year we will be able to provide you with your carbon balance.  The chart below shows how little of the UK is covered by woodland and how low this is compared to the rest of Europe.

By starting to build your carbon credit, we will record your carbon bank, so you can see the positive impact your trees will have on the environment.
